"A travel poster made of printed photos, each cut into the shape of a prefecture and pasted onto a map of Japan.
I was moved by this wonderful idea when I came across it on social media."
In February 2021, I saw a post on social media. Someone had printed their travel photos, cut each one into the shape of the prefecture they'd visited, and pasted them onto a map of Japan. It was a memory poster that looked like a jigsaw puzzle.
"If this were an app, a lot more people could enjoy it, and much more easily."
That was the moment the idea for a new app was born. An app that lets you record your travel memories on a map with just your phone, with no printing and no scissors. That was the start of TravelMemoryMap (Travel Memory Map).
Drawing on ten years of indie development experience, I decided to bring the idea to life. My goal was an app that lets people who travel all over Japan build a memory map that's all their own.
